6 a day

Juice is healthy, tastes well and can easily be made at home in the kitchen. A juicer will benefit the whole family, since you can choose yourself, which ingredients you want to put in, and so it is only your fruit basket and the vegetable drawer that set the limit. The official dietary guidelines recommend eating 600 grams of fruit and vegetables a day. This is not always easy to follow, since not all of us think broccoli, kale and beets taste well. With a juicer, you can get vitamins and minerals from the fruit and vegetables that are not high on your list of life’s meals. With a juicer, you have a chance to mix it with something you like and create a whole new taste. Experiment which combination of fruit and vegetables you prefer. A juice is not just an easy way to get the daily dose of fruit and vegetables – it is also an amazing alternative to candy and soda. Make a juicer a steady part of your kitchen. Your body and your taste buds will thank you for it.

Slow juicer or juice presser?

When you are looking for a new juicer, there are different kinds to choose from. It doesn’t matter which juice you buy, if it ends up in a closet and is never used. So the best juicer is the one you will actually use.

For home use, we are talking about slow juicers or juice pressers. Both are good, but each has its advantages and disadvantages. A slow juicer extracts the juice with the help of slowly rotating gears that use pressure to press the juice out of the fruit. The name comes from the fact that this type of juicer, with its 500-1000 rotations a minute, has a significantly lower speed than a juice presser (also called juice centrifuge), which drives with 3000-10000 rotations. There are many arguments for both types of juicers, and some swear that one is better than the other. Ultimately, it is about personal preferences, and what you will use the juicer for. A slow juicer is typically more expensive than a juice presser of the same quality, but it also retains a little bit more vitamins, since the ingredients are not exposed to as much heat in a slow juicer. If you are only making one or two juices at a time, it should not be a deciding factor for which juicer you choose. For use in smaller homes, there is no reason to complicate the choice of juicer. Choose one you think is pretty enough to have on show or a size that will fit your closet, if there is no space for the juicer on the table. When you are choosing a juicer, you can think about the time. A juice presser can usually take bigger pieces of fruit than a slow juicer and so it does not require so much pre-work, since you can often put the whole fruit in. You can also consider one of the every day’s chores, when you are choosing a juicer – cleaning. Most of the modern juicers are easy to handle and clean but if you want to make it as easy for you as possible, you can find a juicer that has parts that can go in the dishwasher.
