1906, Nilfisk is established in a back yard in Copenhagen. Driven by thirst for knowledge and an ambition to create a global company based on new technology, Peder Andersen Fisker starts his entrepreneurship adventure. Hans Marius Nielsen, the foreman, joins in later, and together they start a little production of electric motors, which later becomes the foundation for a long range of their products, like vacuum cleaners, fans, drills and motorcycles.
It was, however, the vacuum cleaner that became the company’s big hit, and gradually other products disappeared from the range. Nilfisk developed and got a patent on the first electric vacuum cleaner in Europe. C1 was their most precious product. After this it takes off. Klaus Riskær sees that the company is growing quickly, and tries to overtake Nilfisk, but with no luck. Instead it is NKT Holding, who in 1989 overtakes Nilfisk, which today is still the owner of Nilfisk A/S.
