Even though beads are primarily designed for children, it is becoming an increasingly popular hobby among adults, too. Beads are a cheap and easy way to pass the time. It does not require more than a pegboard and a lot of beads, and then you can quickly pass the afternoon. Beads are a creative, versatile and sedentary hobby, which you as an adult can enjoy all year round with the family’s youngest. Gather the family and make bead decorations for holidays and seasons. Christmas decorations, Easter decorations, birthday stuff – only imagination is the limit. Help the kids make beads for Christmas gifts. Key rings, bracelets, necklaces. After all, there is nothing better than hand-made gifts from children.
A big part of our bead selection is from the leading Danish manufacturer HAMA. HAMA has existed since 1961, and since then has been making the beads we know and love from our childhood. HAMA makes beads in three sizes: HAMA Maxi, HAMA Midi and HAMA Mini. HAMA Maxi are their biggest beads, which because of their size are for children from 3 years and older. They are relatively big in the perimeter in comparison to the smaller beads and are easier to handle for the child. Playing with these beads is an amazing activity for the child and the parents. When the child needs to find beads of the same colour, it teaches them to recognise colours and tones. Apart from that, beads help develop motor skill, since the child learns to grab things and place them precisely on the pegboard. HAMA Midi are the medium-sized beads, which is also the most standard size. HAMA Midi is recommended for children from 5 and up, and that is why those are usually found at schools and day-care. Midi beads are also the most versatile, as because of their size, they can also be used for gathering on a cord and creating bracelets without it getting too big. The smallest beads are HAMA Mini. Because of their little size, these beads are recommended for children from 10 and up. They are much smaller than Midi and Maxi and require better fine motor skill to handle. These beads can also create the prettiest picture. With their little size, there is space for more beads on the board, so it can create a much clearer picture.
